Xanadu� this is a broadway musical comedy that has been based on a book that had been authored by Douglas Carter Beane, and whose music and lyrics have been beautifully given by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar. xanadu broadway musical show basically based on the cult classic film of the same name that had been released in the year 1980 that had also been an inspiration and in turn had been inspired by the 1947 Rita Hayworth film that was named the �Down to Earth�. The title of the play has been derived from the name of the poem, Kubla Khan that is also translated as the �A Vision in a Dream�. �Xanadu� is a fragment by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and is basically a name of the Chinese province the writer Khan has established his pleasure of the garden in the poem.

The main storyline of this musical plays much focus and attention on the Greek muse, who is named Clio, and who is a descendant of the Mt. Olympus to the Venice Beach that is situated in the California in the year 1980. This was done as a quest for inspiring a struggling artist by the name of Sonny for the achievement of the greatest creation of his life � that was a roller disco. But later it is shown that when Clio is disguised as an Australian roller girl who is named Kira and who falls into the forbidden love of the mortal beauty named Sonny. The plot shows that her jealous sisters take a lot of advantage of this situation, and then it results in the taking of a risk of the eternal banishment of Clio to the underworld.

The musical made its Broadway debut in the year 2007, and will continue to play till the 12th of October of the current year. This particular musical has managed to earn itself an Outer Critics Circle Award for being the Best Musical. It has also managed to bag the Drama Desk Award for the Best Book. In addition it has also been nominated for the Tony Award for being the Best Musical and the Best Book. Further a national tour and numerous foreign productions have also been scheduled. This musical has first been given a workshop production and had been given backers' audition at the venue of the Minetta Lane Theater in the Greenwich Village that is located in the New York City in the month of January in the year 2007. It featured several performances by the likes of Jane Krakowski, Tony Roberts, and Cheyenne Jackson.
