Superior Donuts is an American Play. The play is written by Tracy Letts. In 2008 the show was premiered by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. In 2009 the show was premiered in Broadway. The show puts light on the relationship among Arthur Przybyszewski and Franco. Arthur is a former 1960s radical and owns a rundown donut shop in Uptown (Chicago) where Franco is his energetic but troubling young African American helper who wants to make some changes in the shop by updating it with lively music and healthy menu options.
The director of the play was Tina Landan when it was performed on the 19th of June 2008 and on 24th August 2008 at the Downstairs Theatre in Chicago by the Steppenwolf Theatre Cpmpany. When the preview of the show began at the Music Box Theatre on the 16th of September 2009 Landau was again the director of the show with the Steppenwolf cast intact. The show was officially opened on the 1st of October 2009 the artist working in the play with there characters are Michael McKean playing as Arthur Przybyszewski, Jon Michael Hill playing as Franco, Yasen Peyankov playing as Russian appliance dealer Max Tarasov, James Vincent Meredith playing as local beat cop James Hailey, Jane Alderman playing as a wise-crazy alcoholic Lady Boyle, Kate Buddeke playing as Randy Osteen, Cliff Chamberlain playing as thug Kevin MaGee, Michael Garvey playing as surprise visitor Kiril Ivakina and Robert Maffia playing as Luther Flynn.
