Wintuk (that is pronounced as win-took; has come into formation after the amalgamation of the English word "winter" with the Inupiaq phonetics) can be described as both a semi-permanent or as a seasonal residency show that has been created by the Cirque du Soleil. Wintuk has also played at the venue of the WaMu Theater that is situated at the Madison Square Gardens entertainment complex in the New York City. The show was highly successful and managed o run for over five years, starting in the holiday seasons of the year 2007. it will continue to run till the year 2011. The initial previews of Wintuk had begun on the 1st of November in the year 2007 whereas the world premiere and also the inaugural season had been launched on the 7th of November in the same year. The very first season of the aforementioned show �Wintuk� began on the 7th of November in the year 2007 and ran till the 6th of January in the next year that is 2008. The time duration of this show is a full ninety minutes that means half an hour whereas it has a twenty minute intermission as well.

The second Season of this show had begun in the current year that is the year 2008 and will continue to run till the 4th of January in the year in the next year that is 2009. The story revolves around a young boy who is named Jamie and who resides in the city. The setting is that of the winter season and even though the winter season has brought with it ice and also extreme cold, the most significant feature of this season has not arrived that is the snow.

The character that is named Jamie takes it upon him to make an attempt for discovering the reason behind this strange happening. While he is on this particular quest he has the chance to interact with several characters that range from the urban street characters and giant dogs to the talking marionettes. On the journey he comes across a shy man who is called as Wimpy and he joins him in his quest. Another character that joins him is that of a playful young girl named as the Shadow girl and last but not the least by a character named Shaman.

The respective quest brings all these characters to an imaginary arctic world that is called as Wintuk which is an environment that does not have any sunlight.

This is where Jamie and his friends some across the giant ice creatures and also the People of the North who are a resident of the Wintuk. Post the return of the sun and eventually the sun light in the land of Wintuk, Jamie along with his friends is transported back to home mo8unted on the back of a giant crane. This helps in the generation of a snowstorm and the snow starts falling on the city.
