Quidam can roughly be translated as being "a certain one/thing" or the "anonymous passerby" in the language of the Classical Latin. This is the ninth show that has been produced and been performed by the popular Cirque du Soleil. The whole show revolves around the imagination of a young girl who is named Zoe. She is shown to be a very sad and an unhappy girl who is on bad terms with her parents owing to their ignoring her. This leads to her dreaming up a fanciful world of Quidam. This is done so as an attempt for escaping her sadness and true circumstances.
The title of this show refers to its main character, who is a man without a head. He is headless and carries an umbrella and also a bowler hat. Quidam can also be described as being an embodiment of both everyone and no one at the very same time. The subtitles that are given at the start of the official video roughly say: Quidam: who is not only a nameless passer-by but also a solitary figure who lingers on the street corner. He not only sings but also dreams within us all and at the same time cries out.
In accordance to the literature of the Cirque, Quidam can also be described as a highlight of both our frailties and our anguishes that all of us have to face in the coming millennium that lies just ahead of us. In addition it also underlines the differences splendidly and conveys the positive feelings and also the resentment in an awesome manner. Without doubt Quidam has a more powerful script as compared to the previous productions of Circque. It magnificently integrates both performance and theatrics to a very great degree. It also draws and focuses much on the emotional relationships that have been formed amongst the members in the troupe.
